HMAS QUIBERON 1940 - 1964

Originally laid down as destroyer HMS Quiberon, on 4th October 1940 and launched 31st January 1942.

The vessel was commissioned as HMAS Quiberon on 6th July 1942, armed with four 4.7" guns, eight 21" torpedo tubes and light Anti-aircraft armament.

HMAS Quiberon saw much action in WW II and was successful in a number of sea battles.

Then knighted and promoted, he became
Vice Admiral, Sir James Willis KBE OA.
